Vaca De Mayo in Town Square!

First Annual Vaca De Mayo in Vacavilles’ Town Square celebrating local heritage while serving up authentic mexican food and margaritas

Join Los Reyes Restaurant, The Solano Hispanic Chamber and the Downtown Vacaville BID for Vaca De Mayo on Saturday, May 2 from 11AM-5PM. This first-time event is an opportunity to kick off the Summer season with a celebration of mexican food, drinks, music and art. Town Square in Downtown Vacaville will be transformed into a Mexican Zocalo with festive colored flags, umbrellas and table seating. Live entertainment will be provided by local bands with traditional dancing by the Jepson Folkloric Dance Troupe. More entertainment to be announced soon! Local artists and makers will also display and sell handcrafted items.

Town Square is located where Main meets Merchant Street in Downtown Vacaville. Parking is free. All ages are welcome but must be 21+ to purchase alcohol (Must present Photo ID). A special menu of food and festive margaritas will be available for purchase from Los Reyes with the Downtown Vacaville BID providing Beer & Wine sales. A limited number of commemorative, hand-blown Margarita Glasses will also be available for purchase.

Vaca De Mayo is Vacaville’s take on Cinco De Mayo, a holiday originally meant to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire on May 5, 1862. Although it is more popular in the United States than in Mexico, annual Cinco De Mayo celebrations began in California in 1863 and the date is now associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture.

Los Reyes Restaurant was founded by chef Fernando Reyes in 2004. Fernando served up family recipes from his Grandmother’s kitchen in Mexico. The restaurant moved to its current Town Square location in 2006. Having celebrated 15 years in business as a locally-owned restaurant, Los Reyes is a fixture in Downtown Vacaville.

The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to strengthen Solano County’s Hispanic businesses by advocating for opportunities that support their economic growth and by providing resources, training and tools, which advance development, prosperity and success in Solano County.
